Parking Garage in Miami Beach: Rates and Where to Park

Miami Beach street lined with palm trees and parked and passing vehicles at sunrise

A parking garage in Miami Beach costs $2 for the first hour at most of the city's South Beach garages, and a full day tops out at $20. Street meters in South Beach cost $4 an hour, and you pay with an app or at the machine.

Step 1: Pick a parking garage in Miami Beach

A city garage in South Beach costs $2 for the first hour and $20 for a full day. The Miami Beach garage rate page lists the same rates for the 7th, 12th, 13th, 16th and 17th Street garages and City Hall. Tax is included. The garage machines do not take bills over $20.

The city runs 12 garages and 66 surface lots, its parking page says. Space counts for each garage are not published. So we cannot say which garage is the largest. A 2014 parking study done for the city counted 6,015 spaces in city garages south of 23rd Street. The biggest share, 2,424 spaces, sat in the Ocean Drive area between 5th and 17th Street, from Pennsylvania Avenue to the ocean. By their addresses, the 7th, 12th, 13th and 16th Street garages are all in that area. Addresses are on the city's permit page. The 7th Street garage is at 210 7th Street, and the 12th Street garage is at 512 12th Street. The 13th Street garage is at 1301 Collins Avenue. The 16th Street (Anchor) garage is at 1557 Washington Avenue, and the 17th Street garage is at 640 17th Street. City Hall is at 1755 Meridian Avenue. The 42nd Street garage is at 400 W 42nd Street, and 5th & Alton is at 550 Lenox Avenue. A garage and lot map shows where each one is. Private garages set their own prices, and the city says they differ from its own rates.

Up to 1 hour$2
2 to 3 hours$6
4 to 5 hours$9
7 to 8 hours$12

Three garages differ. The 16th Street garage charges $10 for 3 to 6 hours and $20 for 6 to 24 hours. The 42nd Street garage in Mid Beach costs $1 per hour, with a daily maximum of $8. The 5th & Alton garage lists the first two hours as free, then $6 for the third hour.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, the garages sell a flat rate. You pay $15 per vehicle from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. at the 7th, 12th, 13th and 16th Street garages. The 17th Street garage and City Hall list a $15 event flat rate. Lost tickets cost the daily maximum.

Key Takeaway A full day in a South Beach city garage costs at most $20, and for any stay up to eight hours it costs half or less of what a $4-an-hour meter does.

Step 2: Compare meters and lots with the garage

Street meters in South Beach cost $4 an hour, and city lots cost $2 an hour. The meter rate page splits the city into zones, and the price drops as you go north.

ZoneOn-streetOff-street lot
Entertainment District (Ocean Drive to Pennsylvania Avenue, 5th to 15th Street)$4 per hour$2 per hour
South Beach (south of 23rd Street)$4 per hour$2 per hour
East Middle Beach (23rd to 44th Street, Collins Avenue to Indian Creek)$3 per hour$2 per hour
West Middle Beach$1 per hournot listed

Meters in the South Beach zone run from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m., seven days a week. Meters in the Entertainment District run 24 hours a day, seven days a week. No single time limit for street parking is published. Its rate page says "maximum time limits vary" in every zone. The limit for your space is on the sign or the meter, so read it before you pay. ParkMobile can send you a reminder 15 minutes before your time runs out. You can then add time in the app, up to the posted limit.

Eight hours at a $4 meter costs $32. The same day in a city garage costs $12. A lot at $2 an hour costs $16 for eight hours. For a short stop of an hour or two, a meter or lot is fine. For a beach day, use the garage. Walking times from a garage to Ocean Drive are not published. Going by the addresses, the 7th Street and 13th Street garages are the closest. Each sits about one block from Ocean Drive, so the walk is short. Garages also had room when the street did not. In the city's 2014 study, street spaces near Ocean Drive were 91% full at 4 p.m. on a Saturday. The city garages in the same area were 75% full. The 17th Street and City Hall garages are farther west, near Lincoln Road.

Until October 31, 2026, Miami Beach's Dollar Parking offer lowers meters, lots and garages to $1 an hour. It works only in the ParkMobile app. You get up to three discounted hours per session and up to 45 discounted hours in total. Check that the offer is still running before you count on it.

Pro Tip If you park in South Beach on a Friday or Saturday evening, check the garage's $15 flat rate from 8 p.m. before you feed a $4 meter.

Step 3: Pay for parking and avoid a tow

You pay for parking in Miami Beach with cash or a card at the machine, or with a phone app. The city's parking apps page names two apps, ParkMobile and PayByPhone. Both are cashless, remind you before your time ends, and let you add time from anywhere.

Enter the zone number from the sign at your space. In ParkMobile, you can also pay by phone at 1-877-727-5714. If you drive a different car than the one you registered, change the tag number in the app before you start.

Free Sundays do not exist at South Beach meters. Enforcement runs seven days a week, so pay on Sunday like any other day. Holidays count for residential zones, so read the sign before you assume a holiday is free.

A ticket is the cheaper mistake. A tow costs far more. The city's towing page lists rates as of January 1, 2026 of up to $282 for a Class A tow, plus a $150 administrative fee, before sales tax. If your car is gone, call the city's hotline at 305-604-4785 or ask a tow company listed on that page.

A handicap permit does not mean free parking everywhere. Since May 1, 2024, regular fees apply at city lots and garages unless your disabled permit is registered with the city's ADA parking program. Registration is in person at 1755 Meridian Avenue, with a notarized form. On the street, unregistered permit holders get at most four hours free.

Step 4: Park once, then skip the car

You can park once in South Beach and cover the rest on a bike, a Segway or the free trolley. The Miami Beach trolley runs from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day, about every 20 minutes, according to the city's trolley page. Citi Bike Miami sells a 30-minute pass for $6.95 and a one-day pass for $24, with $5.50 for each extra 30 minutes, on its pricing page.

A ride share can beat parking when you plan a night out. Our page on getting around Miami without a car compares uber miami fares, buses and the rail lines. Parking a car for a whole evening in the Entertainment District adds a garage fee and a risk of a late-night search for a space.

Best Things to Do in Miami's count of GetYourGuide listings in October 2026 found 16 bike and Segway tours in Miami Beach, from €35 to €88 per person. The 2-hour Art Deco Segway tour, from €49 per person, meets at 210 10th Street in Miami Beach and is run by Bike and Roll Miami. You get a Segway, a helmet and a guide, and the tour runs in English. It passes Ocean Drive and the Versace Mansion. It is rated 4.9 from 166 reviews and has free cancellation. These are GetYourGuide reviews, and we did not take the tour ourselves. The cancellation deadline is shown on the booking page. It takes up to 8 people and lasts 2 hours. Tips are not included, and no hotel pickup is listed. Children under 12 cannot ride.

The one-day bike rental, from €36 per person, starts at the same 210 10th Street shop. Bike and Roll Miami runs it too. It includes a bike, lock, helmet and a map of the day's stops, and it is rated 4.6 from 104 GetYourGuide reviews. The map suggests the Lummus Park promenade and the pier at South Pointe Park. It has free cancellation, and children under 10 are not suited to it. Groups go up to 25 people. Tips, food, drinks and hotel pickup are not included. Both prices were checked on October 23, 2026.

Once the car is parked, South Beach Miami is easy to cover by tour, on foot or by bike. Our verdict: you can do South Beach on your own. The free trolley or a rented bike is enough for most visitors. A tour is worth it only if you want a guide to tell the Art Deco story. A rental or the trolley is better if you want to choose your own stops. A car is the wrong choice for a day that stays inside South Beach, because the walk from a garage to the beach is short.

Cities that make cars easy to park also make cars easy to overuse.

How much is parking in Miami?

Is parking free on sundays in Miami?

Is there free parking in Miami Beach?

Almost none in South Beach. The city publishes no list of free spaces. The one free option on its garage rate table is the 5th & Alton garage at 550 Lenox Avenue, where the first two hours are free. Drivers with a disabled permit park free on the street for up to four hours. If they register the permit with the city, garage and lot fees are waived too. Everyone else pays at meters, lots and garages, seven days a week. The meter page lists paid hours by zone. South Beach meters are paid from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m., so the only unpaid meter hours there are 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. West Middle Beach meters are paid from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and North Beach meters from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The Entertainment District near Ocean Drive and Washington Avenue has the highest rates. The city does not publish walking times to Ocean Drive. By their addresses, the 7th Street garage (210 7th Street) and the 13th Street garage (1301 Collins Avenue) sit about one block from Ocean Drive.

How to pay for parking in Miami?

In Miami Beach you pay with cash or a card at the garage or meter, or with the ParkMobile or PayByPhone app. The city says its apps let you extend time from your phone. Garage machines take no bills over $20.

Conclusion

Parking a car in Miami Beach is easy to find and not cheap. Plan on $2 for the first hour and $20 for a day in a city garage, $4 an hour at a South Beach meter, and no free Sundays at the meters. Pay with the ParkMobile or PayByPhone app, check the sign for time limits, and leave the car in the garage once you arrive. South Beach is small enough to cover on a bike, a Segway or the free trolley.
