Brightline Miami to Orlando Prices: Train vs Bus vs Car
Brightline Miami to Orlando prices change with the date and the fare class, so the train has no single fare, while the Greyhound bus starts at $29.98. The train takes about three hours, the bus at least four, and rideshare has no published price at all.
Brightline Miami to Orlando prices: SMART, PREMIUM and flex fares
Brightline Miami to Orlando prices are not one number, because the fare depends on your date, how early you book and which coach you pick. Brightline sells SMART and PREMIUM coaches. In September 2026 it announced FLEX, SELECT and SAVER options for Orlando trips. SAVER is sold only in SMART. FLEX lets you cancel for a refund or change the trip without a change fee.
A current one-way fare from Miami to Orlando is not published on a page we could open. The last published figures are the launch fares. WQCS, a public radio station, reported on 20 April 2023 that one-way fares started at $79 in SMART and $149 in PREMIUM. Treat those as a rough floor, not today's price. A summer 2026 offer on Brightline's site has also ended. Open the booking tool for your exact day and compare the SMART and PREMIUM price side by side.
Key Takeaway Brightline's price for Miami to Orlando is set per date and class, while the Greyhound bus lists fares from $29.98, so price the train for your day first.
| Option | Time, Miami to Orlando | Price you can check |
|---|---|---|
| Brightline | About 3 hours to 3 hours 30 minutes | Set by date and class, see the booking tool |
| Greyhound bus | 4 hours at best | From $29.98 |
| Rideshare or taxi | No published time | No published price |
| Your own car | No published time | Gas, tolls and parking, no official figure |
Price: Brightline vs bus vs rideshare and car
The bus has the one fare you can quote today. Greyhound's Miami to Orlando page lists a cheapest trip of $29.98. It also shows 12 trips a day on the route, so you can pick a time instead of building your day around the train.
Rideshare and taxi are the hard ones. Uber and Lyft change their price with demand, and no operator publishes a fixed fare for Miami to Orlando. Get the in-app quote just before you book, and compare it with the bus. By road, Miami to Orlando is about 229 miles. That is the distance Greyhound gives for its bus route. No road authority publishes an official figure. Ask for the quote before you get in.
A rental car moves the cost onto fuel, tolls and parking, and no official page gives a total. A car also makes sense when you split the cost across four people or carry bulky bags. A seat on the train or bus is billed per person, so a group of four pays four fares.
If you only want a day out of Miami, the tours further down cost from EUR 37 (Key West) and EUR 51 (Everglades) per person, checked on 23 October 2026. Both include the bus from Miami.
Pro Tip Price the same Saturday on Brightline, Greyhound and your rideshare app, then divide any car cost by the number of people in the car.
Time: train vs bus vs car
The train is the faster public option, and the bus is slower by at least an hour. Brightline's pages list about three hours for the nonstop trains and about three and a half hours when the train stops in South Florida first. Greyhound lists a fastest trip of 4 hours.
By car, plan on about 4 hours for the 229 miles. That is the time of Greyhound's fastest bus on the same route. An official drive time is not published, because no road authority gives one for this trip. Traffic around Miami and Orlando can add time, so leave a buffer if you have a flight or a hotel check-in.
A bus day is longer than the number suggests. You first travel to the bus stop, and the nearest one may be far from your hotel. Add that to the 4 hours before you compare it with the train.
Getting to the station: Brightline vs bus stops
Brightline leaves from MiamiCentral, at 600 NW 1st Ave in downtown Miami, as the Brightline train transfer listing gives it. Greyhound uses the Miami Intermodal Center at 3801 NW 21st St, near Miami airport, and also stops at Golden Glades and in Miami Beach at 4101 Collins Ave.
The stop you start from can decide your choice. From downtown, the train station is the easier one, and from Miami Beach the Collins Avenue bus stop is closer. Miami public transport covers the Metrorail, Metromover and bus lines that reach both areas.
Tri-Rail also serves MiamiCentral, but most trains need a change at Metrorail Transfer. Only the express trains X301 and X302 run through. Tri-Rail does not go to Orlando.
Other trips: Brightline vs Tri-Rail for Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale
Many people who search for Brightline prices are going to Palm Beach or Fort Lauderdale, not Orlando. For those trips Brightline lists about 40 minutes from MiamiCentral to Fort Lauderdale and trains about every 30 minutes at peak times. Brightline also stops at Aventura, Boca Raton and West Palm Beach. These four stations are the stops between MiamiCentral and Orlando. Nonstop Orlando trains skip them.
Tri-Rail is the cheaper train for that corridor. Tri-Rail's fare page lists $3 to $10 one way on weekdays by zone, and a flat $5 Daily Pass on weekends and holidays. Load the fare before you board, because Tri-Rail does not sell it on the train.
If you only need a train ticket for a South Florida city, the Brightline train transfer to South Florida cities is listed on GetYourGuide from €19 per person. It is run by Brightline, takes 35 to 75 minutes and has free cancellation. It has no reviews yet, and the page does not show Orlando as a stop. Tampa is not on Brightline's list of stations, and we did not read a Tampa fare.
Which to pick and when the train pays off
Pick the train when time matters, you travel light and you want a seat with Wi-Fi and power. Pick the bus when the price matters most and you can live with a longer day. Pick a car when you are four people, carry a lot or want to stop on the way.
The train is the wrong choice if you start far from MiamiCentral or need a time it does not run. Check the train timetable for your day, because we did not read Orlando departure times. The bus lists 12 trips a day.
A long trip is cheaper when you decide the price you are willing to pay before you search.
| Your situation | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| One traveler, light bags, about 3 hours | Brightline | Fastest listed option |
| Lowest checkable fare | Greyhound | From $29.98, 12 trips a day |
| Group of four with bags | Car | Cost is split, you control stops |
| Palm Beach or Fort Lauderdale only | Tri-Rail or Brightline | Short trip, $3 to $10 on Tri-Rail |
Staying in Miami instead: day trips out of the city
If you read this far because you want a day out of Miami and Orlando is only one idea, there is a closer plan. Best Things to Do in Miami's count of GetYourGuide listings in October 2026 found 15 day trips from Miami, from €36 to €1,351 per person or per group, and none of them goes to Orlando.
The Key West day trip with optional hotel pickup is from €37 per person and runs 15 hours, with six free hours in town. It is run by Key West Sightseeing tours and has free cancellation. The Everglades airboat trip with bus transfer is from €51 per person for 5 to 6 hours and has a 4.3 rating from 268 reviews. Both listings say wheelchair users are not suited.
You meet the Key West bus at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami-Downtown, 340 Biscayne Blvd, in a group of up to 50. Food, drinks, tips, parking and extra activities cost extra. The Everglades bus picks you up at 9:50 AM in a group of up to 57. It includes a 50-minute airboat ride and a wildlife show, but food, drinks and tips cost extra. Both have free cancellation and hundreds of reviews, so they are a safe pick. The Brightline ticket has no reviews yet, but Brightline runs it.
For other ways out of the city, see our guide to an Everglades National Park day trip. Check the tour page for pickup details, because the Everglades trip asks you to be ready in the street at the listed time.
Not going all the way to Orlando?
Our verdict: for Orlando, do it yourself, because GetYourGuide has no Miami to Orlando tour and a train or bus ticket is all you need. For a day out of Miami, a tour wins when you have no car, because the bus and the guide are handled for you. Prices below were checked on 23 October 2026.
