Miami fishing charter prices

Fishing tours near Miami cost from about €76 to €163 a person on our list. The two deep-sea boats cost €76 to €78. The private peacock bass trip costs from €163.

Here is what each price covers:

  • Fort Lauderdale drift trip: bait, tackle, rods, licenses and ice. Food, drinks and the deckhand tip are extra.
  • Bayside deep-sea trip: license and fish cleaning. Live bait is extra.
  • Peacock bass trip: guide, gear, ice and water. Licenses, live bait, food and tips are extra.

Do you need a fishing license on a charter?

Usually not. In Florida you need no personal fishing license on a licensed for-hire charter, party or guide boat.

Both deep-sea trips here include the license. The peacock bass trip lists fishing licenses as not included, so ask the captain before you go.

Fishing on your own is different. A non-resident saltwater license costs $17 for 3 days, plus handling fees.

Fishing near South Beach and in the Everglades

None of our trips leaves from South Beach. The nearest is the deep-sea boat from Bayside Marketplace, at 401 Biscayne Blvd. From its upper deck you see South Beach on the way out.

The drift trip leaves from 301 Seabreeze Blvd in Fort Lauderdale. The peacock bass trip meets at 7940 NW 185th St in Hialeah.

At Haulover Park you may fish with a valid license. You may not fish in swim areas or next to the marina.

In Everglades National Park, Flamingo is the base for backcountry fishing, and its marina is where the park's boat tours start. We list no Everglades fishing trip. If you fish there on your own, you need a Florida license.

Seasickness and weather

Deep-sea trips go out into open water, where waves can be bigger. The Bayside trip is not for people prone to seasickness.

Summer brings afternoon storms. Check the forecast the day before, and cancel up to 24 hours ahead if storms are likely.

If some of your group would rather not fish, a Miami boat tour on the bay is the easy choice for them.

Tips before you book a fishing tour

  1. Bring food and drinks

The drift trip and the peacock bass trip do not include food. Bring your own snacks and water.

  2. Bring cash for the tip

The deckhand tip is extra on the drift trip. Tips are extra on the peacock bass trip too.

  3. Plan for seasickness

If you get seasick, ask a pharmacist about remedies before the day. Eat a light meal first.

  4. Cancel for free

All three trips let you cancel up to 24 hours before for a full refund.
